Animated GIFs on X are really short videos, so they are saved as MP4 files that play everywhere. Photos are saved at the largest size X provides, and posts with several images list each one separately.

Which posts on X are supported?
Public posts that contain photos, videos or GIFs. Text only posts have nothing to download, and posts from protected accounts cannot be read.
Why does a GIF download as an MP4?
X converts GIFs to short videos when they are uploaded. We keep that original file, which is smaller and smoother than a converted GIF.
How do I get the best video quality?
Open the quality menu under the video and choose the highest resolution. It is selected for you by default.
Why can I not download a post marked as sensitive?
Posts that X hides behind a sensitive content warning require a logged in account to view, and we do not log in on anyone's behalf.
Can I download a whole thread?
Each link points to one post, so paste the link of every post you want. Quoted posts need their own link too.
Do I need an X account?
No. The downloader works without signing in to X or to Parallax.
