Parallax Downloader is designed to know as little about you as possible. This page explains exactly what happens when you use it.
No account
There is no sign up or login. We never ask for your name, email address or any Instagram or X password.
The links you paste
A link is used only to fetch the post you asked for. The service does not store it, does not link it to you and does not write it to its application logs. The result, the list of files in a post, is cached for up to ten minutes under the post's own ID so that repeat requests are fast. The cache is not tied to your IP address or browser and expires on its own. Our hosting providers still record access logs, as explained under Hosting provider logs.
Your IP address
To prevent abuse, the service counts requests from each connection using a hashed form of your IP address and short lived counters. It does not store your IP address together with the links you paste. Your IP address does appear in our hosting providers' access logs, as explained below.
Downloaded files
Files pass from Instagram or X through our server to your browser as they stream. We do not keep copies, and the download links stop working after about fifteen minutes.
Hosting provider logs
The site runs on Vercel and Google Cloud. Like most hosting services, they automatically record an access log entry for each request, including the requested address and your IP address. The requested address can contain a post link when you use the address bar shortcut, as well as media download addresses. These logs are kept for the providers' standard retention periods.
Services we rely on
To read a post we contact Instagram or X directly. If Instagram cannot be reached, the post link may be sent to a third party data provider that returns the same public information. When you reach a request limit, Cloudflare Turnstile may run a short check in your browser. These services handle data under their own privacy policies.
Cookies and local storage
We set one cookie that remembers your language, and your browser stores your light or dark theme choice. Neither is used to identify or track you.
No analytics or ads
This site does not load Google Analytics or any other visitor tracking or advertising script, so no analytics or advertising company receives the pages you open or the links you paste from this site.
Age
The service is meant for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes
If we change how data is handled we will update this page and the date at the top.
