The largest version Instagram serves for that post, often 1080 pixels wide. We never shrink or recompress it.
What file type are the photos?
Usually JPG. If Instagram serves a different image format for a post, we keep that format as it is so nothing is lost.
Can I save just one photo from a carousel?
Yes. Each photo has its own Download button. If your link already points to a specific slide, that photo is highlighted for you.
How do I get the photo into my phone gallery?
On iPhone, open the file from the downloads list and choose Save Image. On Android, downloaded images usually appear in the gallery on their own.
Can I download a profile picture?
No. Profile pictures, stories and highlights are not supported. Only posts can be downloaded.
